Overview
Boasting great beaches, cultural sights and an attractive old town, the bustling coastal city of Alicante is a great all-rounder destination. Its historical buildings, coloured houses and sweeping views of the Mediterranean are met with dynamic infrastructure, modern facilities and a buzzing nightlife. Art galleries, luxury shopping and a chic marina give the city a cosmopolitan edge while the hilltop el Castillo de Santa Bárbara and rustic markets add to its Medieval charm.Spend your days soaking up the sun on one of the city beaches or wandering the narrow streets of El Barrio, enjoy a dish of paella at a local restaurant.

There isn't really a bad time to visit. Alicante is perfect for some winter sun, with the average temperature rarely dropping below 10°C in November, December and January. Snow and ice are incredibly rare. During the summer holidays, the city's beaches can get quite busy. Temperatures peak in July and August, and as the kids are off school, you'll see a lot of families out enjoying the sun.
